Bickley Mill Inn wedding photography
Bickleigh Mill provided the perfect backdrop for a winter celebration. Nestled in the Devon countryside, the venue had such a warm and welcoming atmosphere The historic mill building, twinkling lights, and cosy setting all added so much character to the day.
Claire & Rich were brilliant, right up my street, from the very first Frame on their pre shoot, I knew they appreciated my informal approach to wedding photography; they wanted the day captured naturally, without endless posing or awkward interruptions. Their priority was simple: enjoy every second with the people they love most, while trusting me to document everything as it unfolded.
Rather than turning the day into a photoshoot, we kept everything easy-going and fluid. A short wander around the grounds, lots of laughter, and plenty of space for them to enjoy the moment together. The result was a collection of photographs that felt authentic to them — full of movement, connection, and personality.
One of the absolute highlights of the day was the couple’s son, Billy who took his role as my “assistant photographer” very seriously. Camera in hand for parts of the day, he was full of enthusiasm and curiosity, wanting to help capture the wedding alongside me. It added such a lovely personal touch to the atmosphere and brought some genuinely funny and heart warming moments throughout the day.
These are the kinds of memories that make weddings so special to document — the unscripted moments you could never plan for. Watching him proudly “help” during portraits and sneak his own candid shots of family members had everyone smiling, and it perfectly reflected the relaxed, family-focused feel of the whole celebration. I always get cosy vibes here, the twinkling lights and log fires is a winner for me.
